2026 Memorials

Kathryn (Kathy) Diane Riedemann, 64, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away early Wednesday morning, March 4, 2026, at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha surrounded by family and loved ones.

Born December 1st, 1961, to Daniel (Dan) and Elizabeth (Liz) Love of Crescent, Iowa, Kathy, was the beautiful wife of Jeffrey Riedemann and wonderful mother to Taylor, Jacob, and Sophie. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1980, where she was part of the Cheer Team, Kathy went to Jennie Edmundson Hospital Nursing School. Growing up, she fondly remembered singing the Sound of Music soundtrack with sisters Sue Ann Schuster and Krissy Greiwe and hanging with all her Nelson and Love cousins who lived just down the long, country road. She always told us kids about her big brother, Scott Love, using her dolls for target practice for his GI Joes, but loved his teasing personality all the same.

Following in her mother, Liz’s, footsteps, Kathy a lifelong nurse (Jenny Edmondson, UNMC, Midwestern Surgical Hospital) had an unmatched caring demeanor. She brought joy, comfort, and ease to her patients and coworkers alike. Her coworkers smile as they talk about the “little hands” and “baby Jesus’” she hid around the hospital, for them to find with a laugh. She was truly beloved everywhere she worked.

She enjoyed family vacations to Minnesota and the Caribbean Tropics (where she thrived at building sandcastles with seaweed, shells, and loose cigarette butts as decorations), bringing family together for holiday and birthday parties, and dancing to Tom Petty and REM. Kathy had a unique skill for curating beautiful bouquets with wildflowers and weeds scrounged found on the side of gravel roads. Her creativity and passion for her family and friends (far too many to mention) knew no bounds.

Kathy loved hosting get-togethers for Taylor, Jacob, and Sophie’s friends, always preparing too much food. From Taylor’s famous 2nd grade Halloween party, Jacob’s 8th birthday party with seemingly the whole school in attendance, and Sophie’s Princess party, she always went all out. She didn’t hold back spoiling and taking care of her nieces and nephews at every opportunity as well.

She is survived by husband Jeffrey Riedemann, children Taylor, Jacob, and Sophie Riedemann. Brother Scott Love (Deb Love), sister Krissy Greiwe (Scott Greiwe). Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by father and mother Dan and Liz Love, sister Sue Ann Schuster, nephew Cory Jay Schuster.

Funeral service will be March 14th, 2026, at 11:30am at Cutler-O’Neill in Council Bluffs, Iowa followed by Boxer BBQ and sharing of memories across the park at the Masonic Lodge at 12:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Jennie Edmundson Foundation.
